Friends of NLGA: Happy Health and Wellness

Everyone who trains in a combat sport knows the important stuff.

Technique. Strength and conditioning. Proper nutrition. Sleep. Mental preparation.

But there’s one area that a surprising number of grapplers overlook entirely — and it’s the foundation everything else is built on.

Their overall health.

Not just whether they feel good walking into the gym. Their actual, measurable, data-driven health. The kind that tells you what’s happening inside your body before something goes wrong. The kind that gives you a real picture of your recovery, your deficiencies, your baselines.

At NLGA we’re lucky to have our friends at Happy Health and Wellness in Scranton keeping us on track.

What Is Happy Health and Wellness?

Founded earlier this year by Mark and Amanda Deleo, Happy Health and Wellness offers a modern take on medicine — one that puts the patient back in control of their own health. No waiting rooms full of indifference. No five-minute appointments where you leave with more questions than answers. A genuine, collaborative approach to care that treats you like an intelligent adult who deserves to understand exactly what is happening with their own body.

No Limits Head Coach Matt Marcinek has been a patient at Happy Health since the day it opened.

“I would say Happy Health is NLGA’s secret weapon,” he says, “but I tell everyone I know about it — so there’s nothing secret about it.”

The connection runs deeper than a business relationship. Mark trains at NLGA from time to time and had been telling Matt about the clinic from the moment he moved back to the area.

“As soon as Mark told me his plans I knew it was something I needed to be a part of,” Matt says. “A lot like my brother with Fit Club — even if Mark didn’t train with us, I know I’d still be a patient at Happy Health. It’s just that good.”

Comprehensive Care: What Gets Measured Gets Managed

What sets Happy Health apart starts with how thorough their process is from day one.

“I always tell our guys — what gets measured gets managed,” Matt says. “And from the jump with their Elite Physical, you feel like you’re armed to the teeth with data. You get a comprehensive blood panel, an EKG, an allergy test, a balance test, a brain scan. You leave after your last session knowing so much more about yourself than when you came in.”

That level of information isn’t just valuable for the average patient. For a combat sports athlete it’s a competitive advantage.

Happy Health also features an IV lounge where patients can receive regular vitamin infusions — something Matt takes full advantage of on a consistent basis.

“Coaching, training, running the day-to-day of a gym — you don’t realize how much you deplete your body,” he says. “Being able to go in and get that pick-me-up is invaluable. It’s not a luxury. For what I put my body through it’s a necessity.”

But beyond the data and the recovery tools, what matters most to Matt is something that can’t be measured on a blood panel.

“I walk into that clinic and every single member of the staff calls me by my name. Everyone is so friendly. Amanda talks with you — not at you. She wants to know your opinions on your own treatment plan. For what we do it almost feels like an athlete working with a performance team rather than a traditional doctor’s office. That’s a rare thing.”

Two Missions. One Philosophy.

At No Limits Grappling Academy we say it plainly: we are the most athlete-centric grappling gym in the area.

Every decision we make — how we structure training, how we build curriculum, how we develop athletes — is filtered through one question: what is best for the athlete in front of us?

Happy Health and Wellness operates from the exact same foundation.

They are the most patient-centric practice in the area.

They don’t herd you in and out. They don’t rush the process. They don’t treat you like a number on a schedule. They treat you like a person who deserves real answers, real data, and a real plan built around your life and your goals.

That alignment isn’t a coincidence. It’s why the partnership feels natural.

The best athletes are built from the inside out. Recovery, health, genuine awareness of your own body — these aren’t soft topics. They’re competitive edges.

Happy Health and Wellness gets that.

If you train seriously and you’re not paying attention to your overall health with the same intentionality you bring to your training, you’re leaving something on the table.
