Athletes. not members.
You're treated like an athlete from day one, whether you're a seasoned competitor or total beginner.
Battle-tested techniques.
We stay on the cutting edge of No-Gi training methods and techniques. The sport is evolving fast, but we keep up.
No egos. no titles.
No sensei here. Respect is earned through actions, not belt color or imposed hierarchy.
No Limits Grappling Academy, Scranton
At No Limits Grappling Academy, we train the athlete in you through No-Gi Grappling built on Wrestling, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, and Judo.
Whether you’re a former wrestler, football player, or lifelong competitor, this is where you reignite that drive.
We’re not just a gym—we understand the athlete’s mindset. Our coach brings 20+ years of grappling experience and a background in Sport Psychology to help you build both physical skill and mental toughness.
Train with people who speak your language: competition, camaraderie, and the relentless pursuit of excellence.
Who is no-gi Jiu-Jitsu for?
At No Limits, we teach no-gi techniques that actually work in today’s grappling game—built on real training, not trends.
Our culture is built on what former athletes know best: hard work, shared goals, and pushing each other to be better. It’s the structure and purpose you’ve been missing since your playing days.
We created this gym for those who felt lost after sports—wrestlers, football players, and competitors who thrived in high-performance environments.
Here, the grind is familiar. The training is structured. The progress is real. And the people around you get it—because they’ve been there too.
You’ll know right away if this is your place. And if it is, you won’t just train. You’ll thrive.

(Coach) Matt is very good at getting the best out of me. He gives all of us the confidence to go out and compete because of how detail-oriented he is with our preparation, but beyond that what stands out the most is how much he cares about us as athletes. He really goes above and beyond to make sure our individual needs are met.

Common Questions.
No-Gi Jiu-Jitsu focuses on grappling without the traditional gi (kimono). Instead of gripping fabric, you’ll use body control, clinching, and wrestling-based techniques. This makes the pace faster and more dynamic, emphasizing positional control, submissions, and takedowns without relying on grips.
No-Gi Jiu-Jitsu is a sport, not a full self-defense system. While the techniques can translate to real-world situations, we do not train striking, weapon defense, or situational awareness which are key elements of a complete self-defense program. Our focus is on competition and skill development in a controlled sporting environment.
Not at all. We welcome complete beginners, and our coaching approach ensures that anyone, regardless of fitness level or experience, can start training safely and effectively.
No, we are a No-Gi only academy. Our training is designed to maximize the effectiveness of No-Gi techniques, incorporating elements of wrestling, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, and judo to create a well-rounded grappling game.
Not at all! We work hard to ensure a safe and inclusive training environment for all sizes, ages, and experience levels. We also try to pair training partners appropriately to ensure a positive experience.
Wear a rash guard or fitted athletic top and grappling shorts or spats without zippers or pockets. Avoid baggy clothing, as it can get in the way during training. Bring a water bottle, and if possible, flip-flops for off-mat areas.
